Poland: Employers face heavier penalties for non-payment of wages

Under revised legislation that came into force on 1 July 2007, employers that do not obey court decisions ordering them to pay overdue wages to their staff are now guilty of a criminal offence. They face a fine or even, in extreme cases or in the event of repeated non-compliance, up to three years in prison.
