Poland: Fixed-term employment grows rapidly
The use of fixed-term employment contracts has been increasing rapidly in Poland, with more than a quarter of all workers now employed in this way, and in 2008 trade unions are expressing concern about the insecurity involved and are calling for tighter regulation.
According to official statistics, in the fourth quarter of 2007 out of 12 million employees in Poland, 3.4 million were on fixed-term contracts - 28.4% of the total.
