Poland: Government to reform healthcare insurance for unemployed

In January 2008, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs announced plans to reform fundamentally the system of healthcare insurance for registered unemployed people, with the aim of tackling widespread fraud.

Of 1.7 million or so registered unemployed people in Poland, almost 1.5 million have exhausted their rights to unemployment benefits.
