Public sector pay awards above inflation

The Government has agreed to implement in full the salary recommendations of the independent pay review bodies covering around 1.3 million nurses, doctors, health professionals, teachers, members of the armed forces and senior civil servants.

This year's review body awards will see pay for most of the remit groups increase by 3.7% from 1 April 2001.
