Scottish hauliers land 3.5% rise

The Scottish Joint Industrial Council (JIC) - made up of the Road Haulage Association on the employers' side, and the Transport and General Workers' Union on the employees' side - has agreed a 3.5% increase on the basic hourly rates of drivers and other workers. The agreement is estimated to cover around 10,000 workers, and is effective from 1 April 2006.
