Employees covered (nos.): printworkers (8,000)

Effective date: 1 July 2006

Under the terms of a settlement negotiated by the Scottish Print Employers' Federation (SPEF) and the print and paper union section of Amicus, minimum grade rates, apprentice rates and machine extras for some 8,000 Scottish printworkers employed in general printing companies have increased by 2.5% with effect from 1 July 2006. Craftworkers (grade B) - the largest category of employees covered by the deal - receive a rise of £6.35 a week, bringing their minimum weekly rate to £260.34.

As well as determining weekly cash increases and industry-wide pay rates, the agreement sets minimum earnings levels (MELs) for each grade.
