An estimated 1,400 communications, media and IT staff at Siemens who were formerly employed by BBC Technology have voted to accept a 3% basic pay rise, with this increase flowing through to most ancillary allowances, as well as salary scales, effective from 1 April 2006. BBC Technology was a commercial subsidiary of the BBC, providing broadcast engineering, satellite and desktop infrastructure facilities.
