Social council debates working time Directive

An employment and social affairs council was held on 2-3 June 2005 to discuss key issues, the most high-profile of which was the proposed revision of the working time Directive.

Ministers looked at a text prepared by the European Commission, following a first reading of the proposal by the European parliament (EP) on 11 May 2005 (Parliament votes to eliminate working time opt-out).
