Social partners: Negotiations on implementing ILO convention
In an innovative move, the EU-level social partners in the merchant shipping sector have agreed to open negotiations on implementing the new International Labour Organization (ILO) maritime labour convention.
The convention was adopted at a special ILO maritime conference in February 2006 (ILO conference adopts new international labour standards).
