Spain: Accord is reached to improve health and safety in small firms
In April 2007, the government and the central trade union and employers’ organisations reached an agreement on improving health and safety in companies with fewer than 50 employees.
Some 90% of Spanish firms have a workforce of fewer than 50, and they are responsible for much of the country’s poor record on workplace accidents (there are around 1 million recorded accidents a year, of which 1,000 are fatal).
