Spain: Car manufacturers cut jobs
Between September and October 2008, the major automotive companies operating in Spain announced a wave of job losses, temporary lay-offs and production cutbacks in response to falling demand in the main European markets, which account for 85% of Spanish car production.
Nissan, headquartered in Japan, has announced a contraction of production that will mean the loss of 1,500 jobs out of 4,300 at its Spanish plants.
