Spain: Controversy over Nissan job cuts
A decision by Nissan to cut nearly 1,700 jobs at its plants in Barcelona resulted in workforce protests and interventions by the Spanish and Catalan governments in November 2008.
On 13 October 2008, Nissan management announced that it would make 1,288 employees at its two Barcelona plants redundant by the end of the year, with 392 more by September 2009.
