Spain: Deal reached on Mercedes plant closure

In December 2007, management and the works committee reached a pre-agreement on the closure of a Mercedes components plant in Barcelona, following protest strikes by the workforce. The deal provides for a mix of redeployment, early retirement and voluntary redundancies for the factory’s 420-strong workforce.
