Spain: Employers call for wage moderation
In March 2008, with inflation hitting 4.4%, Spain’s main employers’ organisation, CEOE, called for moderation in pay increases to avoid a wage-price spiral.
As measured by the INE national statistical institute’s consumer prices index, the annual rate of inflation rose from 4.2% in January 2008 to 4.4% in February, the highest level recorded since November 1995.
