Spain: Government attempts to revive "social pact" talks
The Spanish Government made renewed efforts in September 2009 to engage trade unions and employers' organisations in talks over a "social pact" to boost employment, but employers are in favour of more radical reforms than those proposed.
In the first half of 2009, the Socialist Government sought agreement with the main trade union confederations and employers' organisations over a "social pact" to tackle the effects of the economic crisis.
