Spain: Government plans labour market reform

The Spanish Government announced in December 2009 that it will open talks with the social partners over a series of labour market reform measures, covering areas such as recruitment incentives, short-time working and temporary employment contracts.

The Socialist Government made a number of unsuccessful attempts during 2009 to engage trade unions and employers' organisations in a tripartite pact to boost employment and tackle the effects of the economic crisis.
