Spain: Government proposes increase in retirement age
The Spanish Government announced plans in January 2010 to increase the statutory retirement age from 65 to 67.
On 29 January 2010, the Government issued proposals for a reform of the state pensions system, aimed at ensuring its sustainability in the medium and long term, notably in the face of demographic change, with increasing life expectancy and the forthcoming retirement of the large "baby-boom" generation.
