Spain: Minimum wage increases by 5.15%

From 1 January 2008, Spain’s socialist government increased the statutory national minimum wage by 5.15% to €600 a month, the target level it set when it took office in 2004.

The government set the national minimum wage (salario mínimo interprofesional, SMI) for 2008 after consulting trade unions and employers’ organisations in December 2007.
