Spain: Redundancies approved at Nissan
The Catalan regional Government approved management proposals in August 2009 to cut 700 jobs at Nissan’s two plants in Barcelona, following a lengthy controversy.
In October 2008, the Japan-based automotive company announced plans to cut the 4,400-strong workforce at its Barcelona factories by 1,680, in the face of falling demand and as part of long-term plans to reduce production in Spain.
