Spain: Strike over pay in metalworking
June 2009 saw major industrial action in northern Spain in a dispute over a new pay agreement in the metalworking industry.
In advance of the 2009 bargaining round, CEOE, the main employers' confederation, recommended that its members award pay rises of no more than 1%, while trade unions announced that they would be seeking increases of up to 4%.
