Spain: Unions in Catalonia seek major pay rises
The Catalan regional organisations of Spain's largest trade union confederations, CCOO and UGT, have decided to seek above-inflation pay increases in collective agreements concluded in 2007. The move has been interpreted as a break with the policy of wage moderation that has dominated Spanish bargaining over recent years (EER 393 p.11).
