Sweden: Unemployment insurance to be made compulsory
The centre-right government has decided to reform Sweden’s system of voluntary unemployment insurance and make membership of an unemployment insurance fund (UIF) obligatory. The change, announced on 20 April 2007 by the minister of labour, Sven Otto Littorin, should come into effect in July 2008.
