Deal with new allegations that arise during a disciplinary investigation

Where new allegations come to light concerning the employee who is the subject of the disciplinary investigation, the employer should inform the employee of the new allegations, and investigate them, which may involve a further investigatory meeting with the employee.
If the employer wishes to rely on the new allegations at a subsequent disciplinary hearing, it should give the employee advance notice of the new charges and a full opportunity to answer them at the hearing.
Where the allegations concern other employees, for example where the employee under investigation alleges bullying, it may be necessary for the employer to commence an investigation leading to possible disciplinary action in respect of those employees.
