Counselling services not a panacea for dealing with stress at work

In Sutherland v Hatton [2002] IRLR 263 the Court of Appeal heard four appeals against county court judgments and held that "an employer who offers a confidential advice service, with referral to appropriate counselling or treatment services, is unlikely to be found in breach of duty [of care]."
