Work out if an employee is entitled to statutory paternity pay in relation to a birth child
Key points
To be eligible for statutory paternity pay an employee needs to satisfy the same requirements as in relation to statutory paternity leave. In addition, the employee must have been in continuous employment with the employer between the end of the 15th week before the mother's expected week of childbirth and the day on which the child is born.
The employee must also have average weekly earnings of at least the lower earnings limit for national insurance purposes.
