- Be aware that an employee has no legal right to make a recording of a meeting.
- Ensure that you understand the reasons behind an employee's request to record a meeting.
- Where this is your organisation's policy, clearly communicate to employees in writing that you do not allow recordings to be made of meetings.
- Consider whether or not the organisation should make a recording of the meeting instead of allowing the employee to do so.
- If you permit a request to record a meeting, ensure that ground rules relating to making, storing and using the recording are established.
- Be aware that allowing a meeting to be recorded may be a reasonable adjustmentwhere an employee is disabled.
- Remember that covert recordings may be admissible in employment tribunal proceedings.
