A raft of employment law changes have come into effect over the past few months. In this edition of the podcast, Zeba Sayed and Stephen Simpson discuss some developments that have perhaps received less attention than others: the changes to special redundancy protection for family-related leave that came into force on 6 April 2024.
We look at four recent employment cases brought over the mishandling of flexible working requests, including two where the tribunal found the employee had been constructively dismissed.
Updated with the increase in the maximum amount of a week’s pay used to calculate various payments and awards, and the maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal, effective 6 April 2025.
Updated to reflect that legislation is in force from 6 April 2024 extending the right to be offered suitable alternative employment to employees returning from shared parental leave, in some circumstances.
